The Dollhouse Loft Bed is one of the most popular designs we’ve ever created. And one of the most popular versions of this bed is to add a paneled staircase and slide. This design holds one twin sized mattress in the loft and one full sized mattress down below. We designed it so that while the loft bed sits parallel to the wall, the lower bed sticks out perpendicular from it. We can also modify the bed to hold different mattress sizes (see the link below for more information).

The Dollhouse Loft Bed has two windows. We put one up high with a trim lined, octagonal style, and another lower down. This one is gridded, and has faux shutters to either side. We installed this window not only so that kids can see out, but so that you can see in. We also made the loft only partially covered, which ensures your child gets plenty of light. Kids climb a paneled staircase to reach the loft, and can take a straight slide back down to the ground. This design includes a bookshelf to one side of the lower bunk, as well as a cubby storage space just behind this bookshelf which is accessible from the lower bed.

The bed as featured here includes a base painted design with two colors–pink for the walls and green for the shutters and roof. We generally paint the trim white.

People frequently ask us about what to put on the ground floor. There is 42″ from the floor to the underside of the bed deck so you don’t want to put a frame, box spring AND mattress.
