Several years ago the stars lined up just right when we realized we had 8 beds to be delivered, all at about the same time. Challenge was they were spread out literally across the country. We had the guys load it all up and off we went from Salt Lake. First stop Kansas just south of I-80. Next delivery, St. Louis early the next morning. Kevin’s daughter and family live there so we took about a 2 hour nap then up to Wilkes Barre, PA. By the time we got there it was about 3 in the morning & this had been pretty much non stop so I laid down in the cab and Kevin crawled up in the back & we slept for about 4 hours before making our next delivery. Over the next two days we delivered and installed the last 5 and ended up in Rockville, MD where we met the very special Nathan family and installed the “House w’ 7 Gables”.
We raced over to the airport in time to catch our flight home. We only had it booked through L. A. & when we got there we couldn’t get a good flight back to Salt Lake so we rented a car and drove the last 700 miles.
In March of this year we had another wild and crazy trip. This time, however, we shipped everything into Queens, NY. We provided a fantastic bookshelf (see below) and a spectacular castle for a high end condominium complex. Only problem, the room we were to install in was the only completed room in the project. It was designed to be used for marketing photos while the balance of the project (Sky View Parc) was being completed. OMG what a place. Kevin and I were a little concerned about getting everything up to the 4th floor in the middle of a construction project. We held our breath, showed up at 7 in the morning only to find out that our clients (Penny the architect and Morgan the Designer) had arranged for everything to be taken up the partially finished elevators and placed them in the room where we went to work setting them up.
Some of the best times we’ve had have been with our clients, face to face whether it be a during a home cooked breakfast with the Gofen’s in Chicago or a very special seafood dinner with the Noyse family in Boston. It’s the coolest experience to get hugs from excited kids not to mention spectacular ocean sunsets in Laguna Beach.
